| Traditional Food Processing Courses |

As we hear daily in the news about listeriosis from processed food or melamine found in imported products we realize that perhaps by putting the processing of foods for our families into our own hands we will ensure their safety. The skills associated with canning, pickling and making preserves have been lost. We will be offering courses teaching people how to make their own food through these lost skills. In other words we will be having fun in our own 'Kitchen Party', of course utilizing foods grown within the 100Km radius of Drayton Valley. Watch this website as new courses are being added as they are booked. Do you have a group of 4-6 people? We can design a course just for you. Let us know what you would like to learn and we can make it happen. Just contact Margarita at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 780.542.0346. Participants will be responsible for bringing the main ingredient – sourced from growers within a 100K radius. Ingredients such as sugar, pectin, dill etc. will be supplied by the 100km Kitchen Party. Supply lists will be provided upon registration. Each Course Participant will be making 12 jars of “local goodness” 10 that each participant will take home and 2 will be donated and sold at local Farmers Markets to help support this project.
We are looking for new instructors, if you have a talent in this area and would like to share your skill please contact Margarita today! If you have these skills you may be interested in our Food Processing Cooperative. Contact Margarita for more information. |
